What you will need:
FAQ's:
Q. What
kind of massages do you specialize in?
A. Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, orthopedic/clinical/medical massage.
Q. What is the
difference between regular, Swedish massage and medical/clinical massage?
A. First, medical massage requires different training, documentation, and
follow-ups than Swedish massage.
Second, medical massage focuses on achieving direct, measurable results to
improve a physical condition such as sprains or TMJ Dysfunction.
Lastly, medical massage requires the patient to be more involved during the
massage instead of lying on the table, relaxing and falling asleep.
Q. Does my insurance provider pay for medical
massage?
A. Yes, Personal Injury Protection
(PIP)
and Workman’s Comp
(WC)
insurances typically provide payment to medical massage practitioners if your
doctor prescribes the need for it. Each insurance company and policy is
different so verification is needed before treatment can begin.
What you need to do:
The ordering physician must state what condition; accident injury or illness; the massage therapy is expected to provide relief from.
Generally this must be included on the written order or prescription and is best expressed as an ICD-9 code, a code that stands for your condition and understood by insurance companies when processing your auto/car insurance or workers compensation claim.
The written order or prescription must give a frequency and duration; in other words; say how often massage therapy treatment should occur and how long the regimen should last.
All the paperwork must be filled out prior to receiving medical massage therapy. Your auto/car insurance company will pay Holistic Massage & Wellness Clinics directly.
